Either way I don't think a crop would be necessary. I personally like negative space though. I have come to the conclusion that the sticks/branches add something to the image and leaving them in helps to define and balance the image as a whole.
Cool hawk. A couple of years ago, I used to spend hours waiting for "action" at the osprey nest. Last year I told the bird I was thru with his games. So that is why I have very few hawk shots, plus I can't find them. Yours are cool. ginger (why were you shaking? From holding the camera up? That would happen to me, I would let the camera down to my waist and the darn bird would fly!)
