Hey that's ok. I'm not upset at all. I am really glad you both told me your thoughts.
Even though what you two are saying is true, for example the focal point. I just plain
like it. It's one of those doesn't make any sense but oh well, such is life.

I wasn't going to wade in here. I also prefer the original, yet I do like this for the drama. So once one gets by the technicals personal opinion always plays a part, a very valid part.
Over on the ACT list they (and these guys are pros) are doing a case study, post, color correction on a very difficult shot from the ballet Gisele. Dan Margulis himself, the PS color master, also joined in and I like his interpretation the least:-) Bad me huh?:-)
hey, art is art and everyone seems to have a different opinion. i gave you mine, which is worth...er... well, you know. anyway, you are the artist in this case, so your opinion is the only important one. as far as the drumming is concerned, what a boring world we would have with only one to drumon. yes, i made that confusing on purpose. after all, writing is art, and i'm not good atthat, either.
Ok, fair enough. I appreciate the input. I like it the way it is but I am grateful for your opinion and suggestions. I really didn't see it that way. I do agree that everything you said is correct and probably the way most people would look at I am just beat to a different drum today.
i like the original better. to me, the green bg looks more natural. yes, i think the focal point is too high and the green stems in the original draw some attention, which helps lower the eye. the colors in the lower blooms are much more vibrant in the original, which again grabs some attention. there seems to be more to look at in the original, even though there's obviously......
This is the original here: http://thecuriouscamel.smugmug.com/gallery/1387155#152009477
I have another progam in my ps and did a still life filter then used history brush to bring some color back.
As for the focal point you mean because the flower is up higher? Do you think a crop or more canvas might help?
Thanks for the input fellow cccer's
Ohoo goodie. I love it when Tom or someone says what is bugging me, I sometimes can't figure it out. I've had shots with black BG's never can figure out why exactly.
every time i see these black bg shots, i wonder how they were done. i like them, but probably would be hard-pressed to do one if forced. i think the focal point isn't in the greatest place here. not sure what could be done or if it would make any difference, anyway.
Really interesting shot..I'm still thinking if I have any nits:-)
