Wonderful on the clarity & the look inside the glass. Nice work, Gail!

I really learned something coming back and reading the comments. I know so little about lighting and reflecting and all that. The idea of using a black reflector to help get more contrast on the bubbles was very interesting. I must try it sometime. Very cool to learn this way in the challenges. My attempt was so simplistic I am almost embarrassed, but hey...we all have to start somewhere. Very helpful exercise!

I like the color of the oil you used. I like the texture of the background, but I have to agree with the brightness comments from others. I found that I was having the same issue when I used the glass. I caught my reflection in several of my attempts and also the reflection of my lighting equipment.

Gail with the color of the glass & oil I would go the OPPISITE way with your light. I understand the concept your shooting for but if you used DARK reflectors like black on 3 sides and possibly gold or silver on the 4th you will see better depth & detail. The problem seems to be too much light flooding every area of detail and your losing it all to brightness. Even under exposing will draw the same trouble with less contrast and it will begin to go flat. I would try the dark reflectors with bouncing light from far away and at right angles. Anythings worth a try right ;) ~Bill~

I actually like this piece. Other than the bright highlits from the side light, it looks fine to me. I think this could have used a little unsharp mask also. On dgrin, there is a monthly assingment that teaches you how to light glass. I recommend taking a quick peek at it.

This is very cool Gail. I miss doing the Monday Challenges but with teaching doing the photography piece part time, it's been crazy. Hope all is good in your piece of the world.
